We had a great class at Cotuit Center for the Arts on Monday. Lots of women had fun getting their hands into some supplies and creating backgrounds. Part two is next Monday, adding images and graphics.

making altered books. I'm working on one now for the Arts Foundation WILD THINGS show. This one is a little different, the book only opens to one, two-page spread. I'll work on the embellishments today and post a pic when it is done.
Thanksgiving is easy, so November is when I start to think about Winter Holiday prep. This year the Nice Gifts and Ornaments class for children will be run a bit differently than in the past. Kids will be able to choose from of a variety of gift ideas for the people on their list. We'll use generally the same skills and materials but the gifts will be selected individually.
We had a great time at Cotuit Center for the Arts last night at the Art and Souls Sideshow Spectacular. There were so many good costumes and so many were home made. Visit my facebook page to see more. Just click on the picture.
This is one of my favorite Halloween costumes. I can't find the original but I found this collaged page. What was your favorite? Post a picture.
Very nice story in the Barnstable Patriot today. Thanks Mary Richmond! I am really not that into cooking....but here is the best paper mache recipe I know, make as much as you need.
1 part water 1 part flour 2 parts white glue It dries hard and fast and is not too sticky. http://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.barnstablepatriot.com%2Fhome2%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_content%26task%3Dview%26id%3D26755%26Itemid%3D34&t=The+Barnstable+Patriot+-+One+woman%E2%80%99s+dream+of+creative+fun%2C+art+and+family&src=sp I am thinking about my annual Spider Leg Soup. It's delish! So easy and nutritious too.
Chop up onions, celery and carrots. You determine the quantities depending on how many you'll be serving. Saute until soft then add some chopped chicken brown it a bit. Add some chicken broth Then the spider legs which can be hard to find so I substitute long grain black wild rice. Simmer until the "legs" are soft Create a whirlpool and stir in a beated egg or two. Add a splash of soy sauce and lemon. Voila! You have a holiday classic. I still enjoy this each year even though my kids are grown. Let me know how it works out. The summer has gone by so quickly! As friends head back to school I am busy renovating the art barn into the new studio space at Cotuit Center for the Arts. There is so much to do to create the space I envision. I am looking for volunteers to help clean, paint and organize. I also have a ramp to install for easier access for friends on wheels. Are you interested? We'll be working all next week. Come join in the fun.
